Most of the crowd in Nagpur (India) came to know about Python, only after our team started promoting PyCamp 2K17. It is a sad truth but people really didn’t knew that it’s a language and it has such enormous scope. It was a really tough challenge for the volunteers and organizers to gather people for learning a new language.
It was great to see such a variety in participants. The attendees were from different engineering colleges, some were from commerce background and there were professional too, who work with different languages in their office and never used Python. Also, many people came by travelling thousands of kilometers just to witness these 3 days of Python. It was the first time when so many people gathered to learn any language at Nagpur, India.
PyCamp was a 3-day event and it started with the history of Python and how it came into existence. The first day, the participants learned about Installing Python and writing few lines of code. They were equally excited and nervous but the fun part came when they realized how easy and user friendly it is!
The participants were taken from basics to intermediate level on Day-1 and Day-2. Also, on Day-2 only there was a session arranged on bots and facebook graph and how Python is used in it. Students were really excited to try out and make their own Chat Bot for their Facebook pages and it was the most interactive session.
A session on web scrapping was conducted on Day-3 to inform them about what are scrappers, how they are used and how to make one. Plus, for the upcoming Data Scientists a very interactive session was conducted to guide them. Every doubt of the attendees is resolved on spot by our PyCamp Mentors and each and every person was given equal importance and attention.
The organizers also provided Brunch, PyCamp Stickers and other goodies to the attendees. The event would never have been possible without the support from our sponsor “Python Software Foundation”. It is a great gesture from PSF to support an event in a tier-two city. The website hosting and domain was provided by our hosting partner “TheCore.IO”. Also, the attendees were given a Free License by “Wingware Python IDE” worth $254 approx. and a one month subscription for all upcoming Data Scientists on “DataCamp Website”. Those who are interested in application of Python in IOT were given free subscription by “MY DEVICES” on their website. There was a unique thing about PyCamp that 60% of the seats were occupied by female attendees and it all happened because of the “GirlScript Foundation” that is working to support women in technology in India.
It was a great feeling to host such a great event and the team PyCamp thank all our supporters, mentors, attendees and sponsor for their kind support.
Hugs, Love & Cupcakes
